Donald E. Merryman
Age 88, of Canton, passed away Saturday May 8, 2010 in Mercy Medical Center following his declining health. He was born May 5, 1922 in Cadiz, OH to the late Teddy and Sara (Haverfield) Merryman and was a 1940 graduate of Cadiz High School. Donald was a WWII Army veteran and a Canton area resident since 1941. He retired from Hercules Engines in 1976 after 31 years of service and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Canton South Men's Club, AARP, North Industry Sportsman's Club and the American Legion. Donald enjoyed traveling, fishing, bowling, spending time with his children and grandchildren and the trips to the casinos. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Merryman in 1994; one granddaughter, Tammy Stark in 1975. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Terry Stark of Tennessee; one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Marion Merryman of Minnesota; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Joann Daubenspeck of East Sparta; one brother, Roy Merryman of Texas; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 11:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Rev. Linda Kay Hall officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8pm and one hour before services on Wednesday (10-11am). In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
