Donald Lee Henke

67, of Canton, OH passed away in the early hours of May 21, 2018. Don was a man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends above all else. He took pleasure in preparing meals for his loved ones – especially when he picked the ingredients from his own backyard gardens. Don also enjoyed following Cleveland sports, taking fishing trips to Cape Hatteras, and listening to blues and country music. Don was devoted to work and service throughout his life.  He worked for thirty years as a foreman at Openings, Inc., and for over a decade maintaining the grounds at Lake Cable.  He served for many years in the youth girls softball organization in Navarre, OH - several years as a head coach. More than anything, Don will miss relaxing at home with his best friend and wife, Karen Henke.  In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his sons, Joe and Tim Henke; daughters, Peggy and Stacey Henke; sister, Tracie Henke; step-sons, Bobby, Donnie, and Brian Slabaugh; niece, Amanda Henke, and many nephews, Brian Henke and wife Crystal, Paul Henke and wife Ashley, Jeremy Henke and wife Wendy, Vince Smith and wife Kayla, Chad Henke, Jason Henke, Aaron Baker, and Jason Baker. Don was preceded in death by his father, Paul Henke Sr; mother, Lucy Bass; and brothers, Paul (Butch) Henke Jr and Duane Henke. Special thanks goes out to Crossroads Hospice for caring for Don like he was a part of their own family. Funeral services will be Friday May 25, 2018 at 3:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Chaplain Matt Doerle officiating.
