David C. McCoy Sr.
Age 60, of Canton, passed away Friday March 7, 2014 in Aultman Compassionate Care following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 30, 1953 in Canton to the late Willis and Bessie (Workman) McCoy Sr. David was a life resident of the Canton South area and was a 1971 graduate of Canton South High School. He retired from Canton Local Schools after serving 22 years as a bus mechanic. Dave was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and retired from the U.S. Navy Seabees. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Willis McCoy Jr. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn M. (Mayle) to whom he was married 42 years; five children and their spouses, Shelly and Bobby O'Brien of Bolivar, David and Christine McCoy Jr. of Louisville, Matthew McCoy of Dublin, OH, Elizabeth McCoy of Canton, Jacob and Ashley McCoy of East Sparta; six grandchildren, Leanna, Megan, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Kara and Dylan; one great-granddaughter, Zoey; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Virginia McCoy of Yulee, FL. Funeral services will be Tuesday March 11, 2014 at 1:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. Interment with military honors in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 5-8pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dave McCoy's benefit fund at any Key Bank.
