Darrell E. "Sam" Henderson
Age 82, of Scio, passed away Wednesday May 30, 2012 in Aultman Hospital. He was born March 30, 1930 in East Canton to the late Samuel A. and Florence (Miller) Henderson. Sam was an East Canton resident most of his life and was a Korean War Army veteran discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He retired from the Ohio Power Company in 1991 after 43 years of service. He was a member of Kilgore Evangelical Church where he had served as a trustee, member of the Ohio Professional Surveyors, Ohio Power Retirees, Carroll County Arts Commission, a Rotarian for 14 years, life member of the NRA and former director for Bank One in the Steubenville and Wheeling area. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Henderson in 2004; an infant sister, Carol Henderson. He is survived by his wife, Terry S. (Herwick) Henderson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley and Susan Henderson of Canfield, Brian and Pamela Henderson of Gahanna, OH; four grandchildren, Samuel (Jill) Henderson, Luke Henderson, Sarah (Joseph III) Pershing, Rachel (Mitchell) Klein; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Candice Silecchia, Joseph and Kristin Silecchia; one step-daughter, Tara Silecchia; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and William Kimball of East Canton; one brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Janet Henderson of Louisville. Funeral services will be Saturday June 2, 2012 at 4:00pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Pastor Terry Will officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery, East Canton. Visitation will be three hours before services on Saturday (1-4pm). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kilgore Evangelical Church men's group at 8114 Germano Rd SE, Amsterdam, OH 43903.
