Dale E. Walter
Age 79, of Canton, passed away Wednesday November 4, 2015 in Acute Care Specialty Hospital. He was born August 2, 1936 in Canton to the late Merrill E. and Mary V. (Polen) Walter. Dale was a 1955 graduate of Canton South High School and a member of the Naval Reserves for eight years. He retired from the Ohio Power Company in 1993 after 33 years of service. He was a member of North Industry United Methodist Church, Trinity Lodge #710 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Eastern Star Legacy Chapter #596, Ohio Power Retirees Association and past Monarch of the Nazir Grotto. He was part of the Laurel and Hardy look-a-likes for 25 years and a professional Santa Claus for 60 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Walter and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Joan Ann (Essner) to whom he was married 53 years; four children, Darlinda and Al Manzano, Toni and Ray Ortega, Mary Helen and Norman Nottingham, Dale E. Walter Jr. and Dorothy; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Karen DiMinno. Funeral services will be Monday November 9, 2015 at 11:00am in North Industry United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeri K. Johnson officiating. Entombment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour before services on Monday at the church (10-11am).
