Dale E. Oberly

Dale E. Oberly, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

He was born on May 3, 1937, in Osnaburg Twp to the late Othur and Geneva (Williamson) Oberly.

Dale was a 1956 graduate of East Canton High School.  He worked as a line crew supervisor for Ohio Power for 42 years.  Dale was a life member of East Canton Church of God where he served on the board and in many other capacities.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Donna J. (Rummins) Oberly; three children, Mark D. (Sherri) Oberly, Lynette (Michael) Varverakis, Paula (Ellie) “Bo” Heustess; grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Oberly, Erin (Philip) Roach, Stephen Varverakis, Nathaniel (Chelsea) Oberly, Mary Grace (Justin) Brendel, Caroline Heustess, James Heustess; great grandchildren, Ava, Jase, Case, Alexis, Noah; sisters, Marilyn Schwall, Bonnie Weinstock, Karen (Arthur) Maxwell; brothers Jerry Oberly and David (Liz) Oberly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lowell D. Oberly, Evelyn Walker and Frances Long.

Visitation will be held on Thursday June 1st from 10am- Noon at East Canton Church of God, 201 E Nassau St., East Canton, OH 44730.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1st at Noon at the church with Pastor Greg Smith officiating.  Dale will be laid to rest at Mapleton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the East Canton Church of God Summer Lunch program, a program that Dale and Donna were very involved with, or the church’s handicap bus fundraising campaign.
