Cornell E. Matronia
Age 80, of Canton died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Born June 19, 1937 in Canton, OH. to the late John and Mary (Bacca) Matronia. He was a life resident of Canton. Cornell retired from the Timken Company in 1995 with 37 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary’s/St. Benedict Catholic Parish. Preceded in death by two brothers, John Jr. and Harry Matronia; three sisters, Mary Suma, Lucretia Bahara, Sylvia Cascioli. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise (Gonzalez) Matronia; five children and spouses, Jeff and Linda Matronia of Linwood, PA, Greg Matronia of Columbus, OH, Tammy and Guy Germain of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Mike and Barb Matronia of Canton, Dave and Milli Matronia of Fenton, MO; 10 grandchildren, Melissa, Danny, Vinnie, Alaysha, Johnathan, Jake, Cody, Jarod, Amber and Amy; numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 23, 2017 at 1:00 pm in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1602 Market Ave S., Canton, OH 44707, with Fr. Benson Okpara as Celebrant. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday one and a half hours prior to the mass at St. Mary’s from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s/ St. Benedict Catholic Parish.
