Clyde Landon Buchanan
Clyde Landon Buchanan, age 92, of Canton, died unexpectedly, Thursday December 15, 2005 in Aultman Hospital. He was born August 24, 1913 in Minneapolis, NC to the late Mack and Allie (Green) Buchanan. He was a WWII Navy veteran and was part of the Normandy Invasion. He was a Canton resident for the past 70 years, retiring from the Timken Company in 1975 after 30 years of service. Member of the Canton Baptist Temple and the Ambassadors Sunday School Class. He was a life member of the VFW Post #693, member of American Legion Post #44, and the Golden Lodge. Clyde attended every Canton South basketball game since 1963, making him one of the Wildcats most loyal fans. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rua (Winkleman) in 2004, to whom he was married 59 years; three sisters and five brothers. Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Terry Schwinn of Canton; one granddaughter, Tammy Fair of Canton; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, one of which is Landon Wagner who was named after Mr. Buchanan; life long friends, Lou and Joy Mitchell with whom he traveled to the Wildcat ball games; and a very dear friend, Hallie Umpleby. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Rev. Delaney Young officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Sunday 2-5pm in the funeral home.
