Claude Darrell Lowman
Age 92, of Canton and most recently of North Canton, Ohio passed away at home on July 5, 2018 following a short illness. Claude was born on June 29, 1926 in Maple Heights, Ohio. He is the son of the late Clarence and Geneva Lowman of Caldwell, Ohio. Claude served in the United States Navy during WWII and upon discharge, he settled in Canton, Ohio where he met his wife of 61 years, Kay (Brunner) Lowman. Claude operated Claude’s Service, an independent Arco service station, in Waco, Ohio for over 30 years before working as a dispatcher for Saunders Cartage/Dayton Freight, from which he retired in 1994. He is a member of the Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post#667, and the Foltz Community Center in East Canton, where he and Kay enjoyed contributing to the operation of the Foltz Center. Preceded in death by three sisters, Garnet Sutherland, Donna Smith, and Erma Jean Oliver; two brothers, Max and Roy Lowman. He is survived by his wife, Kay; two daughters, Claudia Lowman and Catherine Lowman (Stephan Holder) both of North Canton; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence “Junior” and May Lowman of East Canton; a sister, Bernita Anderson of Indiana; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 1:30 – 4:30 pm at the Foltz Community Center,224 N. Wood St., East Canton, OH 44730. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Foltz Community Center, where Claude will be remembered for his legendary dishwashing skills, or to the Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post#667.
