Clark E. Kandel Sr.

The life of Clark E. Kandel Sr. will be remembered and commemorated on Sunday May 7, 2017 at 2:30pm in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 108 E. Walnut St, East Canton, OH 44730. Mt. Tabor was the family church for many, many years. Clark was very active at the church; he served with the United Methodist Canton District and East Ohio Conference in many capacities throughout the years. Clark’s earthly life came to a close February 20, 2017. He and his wife, Lillian were married just short of 80 years at her passing in 2014.

After living in the East Canton area most of their life, they spent the past 18 years at Copeland Oaks in Sebring, OH.

Clark and Lillian shared numerous activities throughout their life together; Lillian enjoyed her flower gardens, playing the organ both classic and sacred music and her home. Together they traveled the world with friends, often with a special friend, Reverend Harold Ewing.

Clark became quite interested in Currier and Ives prints through the years and had amassed quite a collection. He enjoyed his pipe and mowing the grass at their country home on Georgetown Rd. Clark had established a successful career as a Farm Bureau and Nationwide Insurance Agent; representing both companies for more than 40 years. He shared his Canton office with his brother-in-law, Glen Motts and brother, Claude Kandel. Upon retirement, Clark and Lillian rallied around establishing the Osnaburg Historical Society and the Old Werner Inn which was the former Stage Coach Inn. It was a collaborative effort with numerous East Canton senior residents and remains a worthy point of interest in the Osnaburg area.

Sons and their wives, Gene and Laurene, Clark Jr. and Linda, James and Elizabeth, Warren and Barbara Kandel will be pleased to welcome all at the church on May 7th to share in old memories of times gone past. There are 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also commemorating his life. Clark and Lillian’s cremated remains will be inurned in Israel Lutheran Cemetery, Paris, OH at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Osnaburg Historical Society or Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at www.sandersfuneralhomes.com.
