Bayer, Clara Marie (Barto)
age 93, of Canton, passed away Friday evening in the Laurels of Massillon following a brief illness. She was born September 25, 1915 in Vandergrift, PA. to the late Roy James and Ruth Velora (Smith) Wensel. Marie was a Canton area resident most of her life and was formerly employed by Standard Printing for several years. She was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple where she was active with the Forever Young and Widowers Luncheon Group. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar S. Barto; second husband, John Bayer; one brother, Leroy Wensel; one granddaughter, Debbie Barto. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Shirley and James Green of Canton, Ruth and Donald Buckle of East Sparta, Robert and Carol Barto of East Sparta, Lee D. Barto of Waynesburg; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; two step-children, John Bayer of Canton, Pat Savage of Canton; four step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday June 2, 2009 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Rev. Delaney Young officiating. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 5-8pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
