Chester L. Ivins
Chester L. Ivins, age 81, of East Canton, died Friday September 21, 2007 in his home. He was born November 10, 1925 in Massillon, OH, to the late Wyndham Loy and Coy Vay (Arthur) Ivins. Chester was a Mapleton area resident most of his life and retired as a bricklayer from Stanley Miller Construction Co. in 1986. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Canton. Chester was a member and Past Master of Tubal Lodge #551 F&AM, Minerva, member of Eastern Star Chapter #20, Minerva and White Shrine #54, Canton. His motto in life was, be strong and of good courage, there are memories to treasure, work to be done and life to be lived. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margie L. Ivins to whom he was married 57 years; one son, Dwayne C. Ivins; one sister, Margaret Berry; one brother, Robert Ivins. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Deborah Ivins of East Canton; four grandchildren, Dwayne, Dana, Daniel and Darla Ivins; one sister, Virginia Welch of Massillon; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Geneva and Ben Owens of Malvern. Funeral services will be Monday September 24, 2007 at 10am in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Interment in Mapleton Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Tree of Life Wilderness Center at P.O. Box 202, Wilmont, OH 44689.
