Charles Leroy Slutz
Age 82, of Canton, passed away Friday January 22, 2010 in Aultman Hospital. He was born February 24, 1927 in Waynesburg, Ohio to the late Robert E. and Stella B. (Limbach) Slutz. Leroy was a 1945 graduate of Canton South High School and proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed by R.E. Slutz Trucking Company for 43 years of which the last 20 years of operation he was owner/operator. Leroy was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on church council, choir member, chairman of the building committee, Sunday school teacher and many other committees in the church. He was a life member of Canton Township Fire Department Station #1, Canton Local Board of Education member for 20 years, member of Jr. O.A.U.M. where he had played in the Jr. Order of United American Council Band. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Douglas Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou (Neighbor) to whom he was married 57 years; one son, Clyde Slutz of N. Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay (Wilson) and Neal Frey of N. Canton; two grandchildren, Megan Wilson and Craig Wilson. Funeral services will be Monday January 25, 2010 at 11:00am in the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Diana Thompson officiating. Interment with military honors in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-5pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour before services on Monday at the church (10-11am).
