Charles Alvin Shulty
Charles Alvin Shulty, age 85, of Canton, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Son of the late Perry and Edna Jane (McClure) Shulty. He was a Canton area resident for more than 60 years and a 1937 graduate of Bolivar High School and a graduate of Canton Actual Business College. A World II Army veteran and recipient of a bronze star. He retired from Fishers Foods in 1982 after 27 years of service. Member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he was financial secretary and active with the Sociable Sixties. He had also served as Sunday School Teacher and Custodian for many years. Member of Caldwell Lodge #330 F&AM, Bolivar. Volunteered at the Fairless Food Cupboard and delivered Meals on Wheels for five years. He is also preceded in death by one brother, F. Lester Shulty, in 1977; two infant brothers; one infant sister. Survived by his wife, Thelma (Gerber) Shulty to whom he was married 59 years; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl Seward of Bolivar, Peggy and Dave Thompson of Navarre, Marcia and Paul Wagner of Navarre; eight grandchildren and spouses, Jody and Jamie Seward, Jeff Seward, Andrew Thompson, Travis Thompson, Juliann and John Roberts, Mark Wagner, Tyler Thompson and Beth Ann Wagner; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Seward; two nieces and spouses, Nancy and Don Harvey, Mary Jane and Tom Burkhart. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 am in the Otterbein United Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Raynes and Rev. Paul Gerycz officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday 5-8 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave and one hour before services at the church(10-11am).
