Charles Leo Douglas
Age 92, of East Canton, passed away Friday September 2, 2011 in the Canton Christian Home. He was born November 17, 1918 in Murray City, OH to the late Roy and Lillian (Lanning) Douglas. Leo was an East Canton resident since 1940 and was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. He retired from Stark Ceramics after 28 years of service and was co-owner/operator of Douglas Flowers. Leo was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where he formerly served as Elder, Deacon and a Sunday school teacher; he was a member of the Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post #667. He was an avid bowler, a true sports enthusiast for many years and family was his pride and joy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine M. Douglas to whom he was married 66 years; two brothers, Duane and Harold Douglas; two sisters, Lillian Baum and Vivian Spaulding; one infant sister. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jewell and Lynn Griffing of Louisville; one son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Shirley Douglas of Jackson Twp; three grandchildren, Jill (Tim) Sweet of Valencia, PA, David (Betsy) Griffing of N. Canton, Michael (Angela) Douglas of Jackson Twp; five great-grandchildren, Meredith, Erin, Adam, Drew and Lindsay. Funeral services will be Tuesday September 6, 2011 at 11:00am in St. Paul's United Church of Christ with Rev. Clark Kandel Jr. officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Monday 5-8pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church (10-11am).
