Charles E. Coates
Age 95, of East Sparta died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born December 4, 1917 in Maynard, Ohio to the late Elmer and Ada (Applegarth) Coates. He was an East Sparta resident most of his life and a U.S. Army WWII veteran. Charles retired from Ashland Oil with 47 years of service. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Ann Coates on April 7, 2013; four brothers, Earl, Walter, Gilbert and Ross Coates; two sisters, Hazel Karel and Wilma Anderson. He is survived by five children and spouses, Judy and Earl Cloud of Tennessee, Kelly and Jann Coates of East Sparta, Allyson and Bob Ridenbaugh of Canton, Douglas Coates and Julio Vazquez of New York, Scott Coates of East Sparta; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 4:00 pm in Otterbein United Methodist Church, 6025 Shepler Church Ave. S.W., Navarre, OH. 44662, with Rev. James Zimmerman officiating. Friends may call Saturday from 1-3 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. Memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church.
