Chalmer C. "Chet" Clapper
Age 87, of East Canton, passed away Tuesday November 30, 2010 in the Laurels of Massillon. He was born August 1, 1923 in East Canton to the late Alph and Emma J. (Schramm) Clapper. Chet was a WWII Army Veteran having served in the 736th Medium Tank Battalion. He retired from the Village of East Canton as Street Superintendant in 1988, prior to which he was employed by NATCO Corporation for 35 years. He was a member of Christ Memorial Church, Robertsville, Minerva Eagles Aerie #2199, Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post #667 and the Jr.OUAM. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen G. Clapper in 1998; one daughter, Kay C. Clapper in 1998; an infant son, Dana D. Clapper; five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Ebner of Dallas, GA, Mary Lou Clapper of East Canton, Kathleen Capuano of Massillon; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet Keister of Minerva. Funeral services will be Friday December 3, 2010 at 10:00am in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Rev. Jeffrey Lord officiating. Interment in Robertsville Cemetery.
