Carl A. Rice
Age 94, of East Canton died Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born November 20, 1921 in East Canton, Ohio to the late John L. and Anna Mae (Rebillot) Rice. He was a life resident of East Canton and a 1939 graduate of East Canton High School. He served in the 3rd Army Engineers during WWII. Carl retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company in 1985 with 38 years. He was a life member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where he was very active and served on church council, was a Eucharist Minister and usher. Carl was also a former member of the Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post #667, Knights of Columbus Council #341, Holy Name Society and Catholic Order of Foresters. Preceded in death by his wife, Stella Mae Rice in 2006; three brothers; five sisters; two grandsons. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Roberta Rice of North Canton, Douglas and Lynne Rice of East Canton, Jeffrey and Linda Rice of Bolivar; four daughters and son-in-law, Carla Howard of East Canton, Susan Rice of East Canton, Christine and Douglas DeLashmutt of Oxford, CT, Elizabeth Collins of Canton; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Angeline Rice of East Canton. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10 am in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. Benson Okpara as Celebrant. Entombment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Memorial donations may be made to St Benedict Catholic Church.
