Carl T. Bittner Jr.

Age 75 passed away January 30, 2019 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Carl was born in Blaine, OH on July 6, 1943 to Johanna (Kimes) and Joseph Kovalik Sr. He married Barbara J. Zedell on July 2, 1966. He retired from the Timken Company in 2005 after 38 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Carl enjoyed hunting, bowling, pool, camping, poker, and having a beer with his friends. He was a life-long Browns fan. He was also an extremely talented “handy-man” having remodeled his entire house one room at a time. Carl is preceded in death by his mother, Johanna Kovalik; brothers-in-law, Lenny D’Onofrio, John Zedell Jr, Michael Zedell and Gary Zedell; a niece, Melissa Wolak. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara; daughters, Carla Bittner and Tina Donahue; grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Madylin and Ellyse; great grandchildren, Jayden and Alexander; his father, Joseph Kovalik Sr; brothers, Larry (Ruth) Conaway, Joseph (Melissa) Kovalik Jr; sisters, Abby Ramsel, Joann Irwin and Cheryl Wolak. Carl did not wish to have any formal services. He will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Aultman Hospice for their kindness and support during this transition.
