Burl Hawkins, age 70, of Canton, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. He was born June 18, 1936 in Elkhorn City, KY, to the late William and Edith (Dotson) Hawkins. He was a Canton area resident for the past 46 years and a U.S. Army veteran. Burl retired from Canton Drop Forge in 1998 after 35 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Sabrina Hawkins in 1998; five sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy I. (McPeek) Hawkins; one son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Jennifer Hawkins of Canton; one granddaughter, Marinda Kent of Canton; two great grandchildren, Sadie and Lance; one sister, Bertha Bevins of Kimper, KY; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Ronnie Kendrick officiating.
