Boyd Edwards Sr.
Age 89, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday November 3, 2011 in Aultman Hospital. He was born July 5, 1922 in Yancey County, NC to the late Rev. Emory and Minnie (Adkins) Edwards. Boyd was a Canton area resident since 1948; a WWII Army veteran where he served in the European Theater, was an infantry squad leader and was awarded a Purple Heart. He retired from The Timken Company after 35 years of service and was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple. Boyd enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and gardening. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth Edwards; one sister, Rosetta Runion. He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian (Lewis) Edwards to whom he was married 64 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Boyd and Deborah Edwards Jr. of Canton, Gary Dale and Judy Edwards of N. Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Sue and Dean Wilson of Copley; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Creed and Mamie Edwards, Homer and Carolyn Edwards, Coy and Jewel Edwards; two sisters, Pearl Fender and Mildred Adkins. Funeral services will be Monday November 7, 2011 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Delaney Young officiating. Interment with military honors in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
