Birdie Opal Ferguson
Age 93, of East Canton died Saturday, April 26, 2014 in St. Joseph Care Center following an extended illness. Born March 21, 1921 in McConnelsville, OH. to the late Harley D. and Gertrude B. (McCormick) Lawrence. She was a 1939 graduate of M and M High School and has been an East Canton resident since 1948. Birdie was a former employee of the Glass Factory in Zanesville. She was a member of East Canton Church of God where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. Birdie was also a former member of the Evening Star Women's Club and the PTA. Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Ferguson in 1987; three sisters, Goldie Gest, Mary Ankert and Mildred Woodburn; two brothers, Glen and Howard Lawrence. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Charles Bucher of East Canton, Eleanor and Sam Martin of Roanoke, VA; one grandson, John Bucher of Canton; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:30 am in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Pastor Greg Smith officiating. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Reinersville, OH. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Canton Church of God.
