Billy “Bill” Joe Soliday, age 68, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, April 24, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on November 16, 1956, in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, to the late Harvey C. and Nora June (Peace) Soliday.
Bill grew up in the East Canton, Ohio area and he proudly graduated from East Canton High School in 1976.
Bill dedicated over 25 years of his career to Republic Steel before choosing to retire and forge his own path. He worked various jobs while also being Mr. Mom to his daughter – getting her to piano lessons, softball practice and spoiling her as only a dad could. Bill was always offering a helping hand to his siblings, friends, and neighbors. A true jack of all trades, Bill was known for his ability to fix just about anything.
He had a passion for staying active, enjoying golf and playing basketball at the Louisville YMCA and his old high school gym. He continued to play basketball until three years ago, sometimes with men half his age. Bill loved to mow the many acres of grass at his home and was extremely proud of the home he and Laurie maintained. He enjoyed repairing power equipment and was known as a reliable and talented repairman. He and his brother, Rich, spent many hours helping family and friends with home repairs. Bill loved staying busy and found joy in being of service to others.
Those left to cherish Bill’s memories include his wife, Laurie (Duffie) Soliday. High school sweethearts, they married on May 2, 1981, and shared a wonderful life together. He also leaves behind his daughter, Katherine (Matthew) Wetter; brothers, Jay Soliday, Lee (Charlotte) Soliday, and Rich Soliday; sisters, Loretta “Sue” (Steve) McEowen, Cindy Radalia, and Rose Soliday as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
