Betty Zane Knorzer
Age 91, passed away Thursday October 30, 2014. She was born in Curtin, WV on June 28, 1923 to the late Virgil and Pauline Mullens. Betty is survived by her husband, Donald A. Knorzer Jr. to whom she was married 65 years; one son, Gary Knorzer and Mary Morris of Canton; one daughter, Donna Marie Knorzer and Marty Higginbotham of California; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; a sister-in-law, Fran Knorzer; good friends, Edna "Pearl" Naste and Phyllis Balleu. She is preceded in death by one sister, two brothers and her precious granddaughter, Crystal Elizabeth Coder. Betty joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served her country during WWII and the Korean War. She retired from Long Beach Naval Medical Center after 20 years of service. She was also employed by Simco Management Corporation for 22 years. Betty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Canton where she and her husband founded the senior citizens group and she served as president. She was a member of Fleet Reserve Retired Armed Forces Association and was a charter member of the U.S. Navy Wives Association. A Memorial Mass will be Tuesday November 11, 2014 at 2:00pm in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Canton with Fr. Benson Okpara as celebrant. There will be no other services.
