Betty Eileen Ickes
Age 83, of Canton died Monday, October 31, 2011 in the Canton Christian Home following a brief illness. Born August 19, 1928 in Canton to the late Lloyd and Lucille (Jones) Johnson. She was a life resident of Canton and a 1946 graduate of Canton South High School. She received her bachelor degree from Kent State University and masters degree from the University of Akron. Eileen retired from Canton Local Schools in 1984 with 25 years of service. She was a member of North Industry Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for 40 years and formerly served as a deaconess and secretary for the Mission Community for 30 years. She was also a member of the Canton South AARP and the Stark County Retired Teachers Association. Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence G. Ickes in 2009 and a sister, Janice Westover. Survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Pat Johnson of Perry Twp; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; a special great nephew, Jeremy Withrow of Hawaii. Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at 10:00 am in North Industry Christian Church with Stephen Kimbrel officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour prior the service at the church on Friday from 9-10 am. Memorial donations may be made to North Industry Christian Church or the Canton Christian Home.
