Bertha U. Bittinger, age 99 of East Sparta, died Tuesday evening March 29, 2005 in Hennis Care Center, Bolivar, OH. She was born in Grantsville, MD. on December 26, 1905 to the late George and Etta (Ross) Bower. She was a member of the Sandy Valley Church of God. Preceded in death by her husband, Amos Bittinger in 1980; two sons, Junior and Cecil Bittinger and one granson. Survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Edith and Carl Rounds of Grantsville, MD, Elva and Gene Cupp of Canton, Norma Wilt of East Sparta, Burldiene Filsinger of Hagerstown, MD, Marlene Bittinger of Mineral City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Willetta Bittinger of Buckhannon, WV, Forrest and Clarice Bittinger of Oakland, MD; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren;numerous great great grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday March 31, 2005 from 7-9pm at the Sandy Valley Church of God, additional calling hours and services to be conducted at the Stewart Funeral Home in Oakland, MD., with Pastor Clifford Hughes officiating. Interment in Bittinger Family Cemetery, Swanton, MD.
