Barbara (Baker) Sablar
born February 1, 1952, died January 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a lifetime resident of Stark County and a member of the Canton South High School Class of 1970. She was employed at Ironrock Capital for 25 years until her retirement in 2016.
She is survived by her husband, Tony, whom she married February 23, 1974; son, Tony (Vanessa) of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Jill of Raleigh, North Carolina and Julie of Columbus, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Tai and Sicily of Texas and Cole, Lydia, and Miles of North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Sherilyn (Larry) Stiffler of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Linda (Marion) Hunt of Phoenix, Arizona; niece, Amanda (Mike) Reeves of Phoenix, Arizona; and lifelong friends, Dan and Carol Russell, Dan and Claudia Stallman, and Dave and Nancy Stark.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law.
Prior to being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in May 2016, she was associated with the Stark County Hike and Bike Clubs. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Her family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Cleveland Clinic Leukemia and Bone Marrow Transplant Programs. Further, their gratitude to the Hope Lodge of Cleveland for providing a hopeful and healing home following her bone marrow transplant.
There will be a memorial service at 2pm on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Asbury United Methodist Church at 7344 Ridge Avenue in East Sparta, Ohio. Family will receive visitors prior to the service from 12-2p. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Cleveland at 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44106.
