Arthur W. Mapes
Arthur W. Mapes, age 96, of Navarre, died Monday January 1, 2007 in Altercare of Navarre following a brief illness. He was born September 15, 1910 in Newark, OH, to the late John and Laura (Cutshall) Mapes. Arthur was a WWII Navy Veteran and was a member of Eden Church of the Brethren. He retired from Canton Drop Forge in 1972 and was a member of the Canton Drop Forge Retirees. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Joseph Maiorana of Canton, Gladys and Michael DeVore of East Sparta; four grandchildren, Scott and Paul DeVore of Canton, Julie (Joe) Petrecca of Monroe Falls, OH, Joe (Jeannette) Maiorana of Canton; seven great grandchildren, Courtnee, Owen, Dan, Zach, Vincent, Michael and Maria; and several other special family members. Funeral services will be Wednesday January 3, 2007 at 11:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Rev. David Bell officiating. Friends may call one hour before services (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Eden Church of the Brethren at 4437 Richville Dr SW, Canton, OH 44706.
