Arthur B. Duncan Jr.
Age 85, of Canton died Saturday, August 8, 2015 in his home following an extended illness. Born April 3, 1930 in Canton, Ohio to the late Arthur B. Sr. and Mary Estelle (Lehman) Duncan. He was a life resident of Canton Township and a 1948 graduate of Canton Township High School. Art served 27 years in the Naval Reserves achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW04). He was the retired owner/operator of Duncan Press that he established in 1956. Art served on the Canton Township Fire Department for 23 years and had been the Township Fire Chief for 10 years. He was a member of Eden Church of the Brethren where he had been a Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon for 35 years. He was a member of Canton Masonic Lodge #60 F & AM where he had served as Treasurer, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton and Tadmor Temple. Art served on the Board of Directors of Westview Manor for 10 years, Harder Bank Advisory Board and the Canton South YMCA Board. He was an avid fisherman, earned his pilot's license and owned several airplanes. Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn Sue Duncan; three sisters, Mary Dehoff, Grace Miller, Kathryn Nowland; one brother, Luke Duncan. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris L. (Heid) Duncan; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Durane Duncan of Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Anthony Peldunas of North Canton; four grandchildren, Jennifer Duncan, Scott (Carrie) Duncan, Anthony Peldunas III, Andrew Peldunas; three great grandchildren, Richard , Jacob and Samuel Duncan; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 at 11:00 am in Eden Church of the Brethren. Interment in Eden Church Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 – 8 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Masonic Services at 4:30 pm and Stark County Firefighters Association "Last Alarm" service at 7:45 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Eden Church of the Brethren, 4437 Richville Dr. S.W., Canton, OH. 44706.
