Arnold Gobeli
Age 97, of Louisville, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday March 22, 2011 in Aultman Hospital. He was born May 16, 1913 to the late Gottlieb and Margaret (Waffler) Gobeli. Arnold was an East Canton resident most of his life and retired from Stark Ceramics in 1980 after 25 years of service. He was a member of the East Canton Church of God where he had served as a Sunday school teacher for 54 years and had formerly served on the board of trustees and as an usher. He was formerly a member of Murray Ave. Church of God in Minerva. Arnold truly enjoyed gardening and was an avid arborist and gardener. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one great-great-grandson, Baron Thomas Petry; six brothers, Walter, Ernest, Albert, John, Carl and Oscar Gobeli. He is survived by his wife, Sarah E. (Van Fossen) to whom he was married 70 years; four children and their spouses, Delores Schumann of East Canton, Roger and Donna Gobeli of Louisville, Joy C. and Tom Bender of Canton, Penny K. and Ron Carpenter of Canton; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Earl Eckelberry of Alliance, Lillian and Carl Cozy of Louisville; one brother, Norman Gobeli of East Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday March 25, 2011 at 1:00pm in the East Canton Church of God with Pastor Michael D. Jones officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call one hour before services on Friday at the church (12-1pm). Memorial donations may be made to the East Canton Church of God at 201 E. Nassau St., East Canton, OH 44730.
