Ardene G. VanPelt
Ardene G. VanPelt, age 72, of East Sparta, passed away Friday February 9, 2007 following a brief illness. She was born May 23, 1934 in New Philadelphia, OH, to the late Walter A. and Thelma (Meissner) Mattison. Ardene was an East Sparta resident most of her life, retiring from The Timken Company in 1994 after 29 years of service. She was a member of the Sandyvalley Eagles Aerie #3228, AMVETS Post #124 and the VFW Post #5047 auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Sally Schwartz and Helen Dillion; one brother, Robert Mattison. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Ken and Donna VanPelt of Greenville, PA, Bridget Kaminsky, Cynthia Gill and Douglas VanPelt all of East Sparta, Susan and Richard Scipione of Canton; three grandchildren, Nicole VanPelt, Tyler Gill and Kevin VanPelt; three sisters, Judith Whitmer of Navarre, Edith Hively of Salem and Martha Rosenberry of Stonecreek, OH; two brothers, Walter "Butch" Mattison of Navarre and James Mattison of Stonecreek, OH. Funeral services will be Monday February 12, 2007 at 1:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Terry Bailey officiating. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-4pm.
