Alyce A. Beck
Age 81, of Paris, OH, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday May 3, 2011 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. She was born February 26, 1930 in Canton to the late Alva Lester and Mildred N. (Miller) Deckerd. Alyce was a life resident of the Stark County area, a 1948 graduate of Canton South High School, a 1952 graduate of Capital University and received her Masters Degree from Ashland University. Alyce retired from Osnaburg Local Schools in 1993 after 40years in education. She was a life member of the former Martin Luther Lutheran Church where she had served on the church council, Sunday school teacher, chairperson of the food pantry and the Thanksgiving basket program. She was a member of the Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Auxiliary Post #667 where she had served in all offices, Robertsville Grange, Stark County Retired Teachers Association, a former 4-H advisor and the Stark County Pony Breeders Association. She is survived by her husband, Richard E. Beck to whom she was married 34 years; four sons and daughters-in-law, Don Moody of East Canton, Kim and Diane Moody of East Canton, Pat Moody of Malvern, Jay and Jolene Moody of East Canton; five step-children and their spouses, Cheryl Lepkowski of N. Canton, Barb Beck of N. Canton, Rick and Ronda Beck of Magnolia, Janet and Loran Hilleshein of St. Paul, Minn., Bette and Steve Buchheit of Orwell, OH; 10 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-granddaughter; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Michael Duffie of East Canton. A service celebrating Alyce's life will be Friday May 6, 2011 at 11:00am in the Israel's Lutheran Church in Paris with Rev. Dr. Larry Houff officiating. Interment in Liberty Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 5-8pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour before services at the church on Friday (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Stark County Hunger Task Force at P.O. Box 20941, Canton, OH. 44701.
