Aloysius J. “Al” Maier

Age 87, of East Canton, passed away Wednesday May 30, 2018 in Aultman Hospital. He was born June 21, 1930 in Shelby, OH to the late Otto and Irene (Logan) Maier. Al was a graduate of The Ohio State University and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from General Motors Detroit Diesel Allison Division in 1985 with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Louisville. Al was an avid golfer and supporter of both the Notre Dame and Ohio State Football programs. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and David Maier; one sister, Margaret Petree. Al is survived by his wife, Evelyn M. (Kortis) to whom he was married 37 years; three children, Tim (Denise) Maier, Diane (James) Forsyth and David Maier (Diane); two grandchildren, Jason (Elisha) Maier and Danny Maier; one great-grandson, Jack; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday June 4, 2018 at 11:00am in St. Louis Catholic Church with Fr. Robert M. Miller as celebrant. Burial will be in Kountze Cemetery.
