Alex Sanko Jr., age 82, of Canton, died Saturday, November 19, 2005 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. He was born, December 7, 1922 in Middlebranch, OH. to the late Alex and Rosalie (Melkowski) Sanko Sr. Alex was a life resident of Canton and a WWII Army veteran where he was awarded three bronze stars. He retired from Whitacre-Greer Fireproofing Company in 1984, member of Free Methodist Church, where he served as an usher for more than 50 years and had also served as trustee. Member of Game Reserve Association and was an avid bowler with the Sharp Shooters League for more than 50 years. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Muriel (Ritter) Sanko in 1986; five brothers, Michael, Peter, John, Thomas and Paul Sanko; two sisters, Mary Polosky and Rose Anna Sanko. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Sanko of Massillon; one daughter, Cheryl Sanko of Canton; one sister, Nell Pappas of Middlebranch; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Raymond Gill officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Free Methodist Church at 1014 Harrison Ave SW, Canton, OH 44706.
