Albert John Shaffer
Age 69, of Canton, went home to be the Lord, in his home, Wednesday October 12, 2011. He was born August 26, 1942 in Homestead, PA to the late Charles Albert and Mary Alice (Matthias) Shaffer. John was a Louisville and Canton area resident most of his life and a 1960 graduate of Louisville High School. He retired from American Electric Power in 2004 after 43 years of service and attended First Christian Church, Canton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert Shaffer; one sister, Myrtle Jerry; father-in-law, Ray Ward. He is survived by his wife, Karen J. (Ward) to whom he was married 47 years; two daughters and a son-in-law; Amy and Michael Davis of Canton, Jennifer Shaffer of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Gretchen Shaffer of Canton; five grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, Megan and Jennifer Davis, Landrie Shaffer; mother-in-law, Sara Ward of Canton; two brothers-in-law who considered John a brother, Jim and Ginny Ward of Minerva, Steve and Barb Ward of Louisville. Funeral services will be Saturday October 15, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. Friends may call Friday 4-7pm and one hour before services on Saturday (10-11am).
